Summary: Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Name of the poet= Robert Frost

This poem tells us about the story of a man travelling through some forest. He is travelling to his hometown. When he reaches the woods, he is enchanted by its natural beauty.

‘’The woods are lovely, dark and deep’’

The poet believes that land owner lives in the village nearby. He (poet) wants to stop in these lovely woods to enjoy the natural beauty. The poet is attracted by this natural beauty so much that that he wants to stop there for a long time. But the horse does not enjoy this beauty because he is hungry.

‘’My little horse must find it

                Queer to stop there’’

For his horse, it is the darkest evening of the year because there is no farm house nearby.

The poet wants to stay in the lovely and dark woods but he has many promises to keep and his responsibilities are waiting for him. His responsibilities pull him out from the woods and also, he has many things to do before going to bed.

‘And miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep ‘’

The poet tells us the lesson that we should make difference between the world of reality and the world of imagination. Finally, the responsibilities surpass the desire to stop in that forest and the poet continues his journey.

‘But I have promises to keep’.
